No. Intense pulsed light (IPL) looks similar to a laser, but works differently. While lasers use a single, concentrated beam of light, IPL uses multiple wavelengths of light, which do not vaporize your skin’s outermost layers. This makes IPL ideal for targeting pigment concerns and fine lines. Our CO2 laser may be suitable for deeper-rooted concerns, like more advanced wrinkles, but requires more downtime.

Frequently Asked Questions
Being gentle with your skin is key. For at least 2 weeks, do not tan or use self-tanners. A week before your IPL photofacial in Southlake, stop using antibiotics or photosensitizing medications. For at least 5 days, avoid harsh skincare products like exfoliants, retinoids, and glycolic or salicylic acids.
On the day of your appointment, drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Arrive with clean skin and a wide-brim hat or sunscreen to protect your skin after treatment. We’ll make sure you feel comfortable at every step of the process, answering all your questions before getting started.
Immediately after your IPL treatment, it’s normal to experience some swelling, warmth, or redness. These symptoms are similar to a mild sunburn and typically resolve within a few hours. Over the next 7 to 10 days, you may notice spots darken before they flake off.
Allow your body to shed these damaged cells naturally, avoiding heat, sun exposure, makeup, and intense skincare products and treatments as directed. You can resume your routine after a week, and expect your results to improve over the following week.
We’re invested in your long-term success—not momentary wins. We may recommend an additional treatment depending on your starting point, end goal, and lifestyle.
