CO2 Laser in Southlake

Think of our CO2 laser like a reset button for your skin. Using a focused beam of light energy, it gently removes damaged layers while working deeper to promote collagen and elastin production.

In technical terms, our CO2 laser is both a resurfacing and remodeling laser. Similar to a chemical peel, our CO2 laser pushes stronger, healthier skin cells to take the place of damaged cells. By boosting collagen and elastin, we give your skin the resources to rebuild from within—simultaneously helping your body shed damaged cells.

Before your CO2 laser treatment, give your skin some gentle TLC. Avoid waxing, bleaching, tanning, and using self-tanners for at least 2 weeks. Changes to melanin and sensitivity can cause your skin to absorb the energy unevenly. You should also stop using retinoids, glycolic or salicylic acids, and exfoliants at least 5 days before your appointment.

Follow your provider’s instructions to avoid specific medications, including antibiotics, before your treatment. If you are taking Accutane, you must wait at least 6 months to be a candidate for our CO2 laser in Southlake.

Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your visit to stay hydrated. On the day of your appointment, cleanse your skin, but do not apply skincare or makeup products. Remember to bring a wide-brimmed hat and/or sunscreen to protect your skin after treatment.

After answering your questions and helping you get settled, we gently cleanse your skin to prepare for treatment. As we glide the laser over your skin, you may experience a warm, prickling sensation, but we always make sure it’s tolerable.

Treatments with our CO2 laser in Southlake typically take 60 minutes. Afterward, we apply a soothing ointment to protect your skin. You won’t just leave with aftercare instructions—you’ll leave with experts supporting you along the way.

Your skin responds immediately to the CO2 laser. You may notice some redness, swelling, and/or oozing, and your skin may feel raw or tight, similar to a mild sunburn. We provide healing ointments to help the natural healing process along and reduce any discomfort, but this resolves quickly.

In the meantime, follow your provider’s aftercare instructions, including:

• Apply Aquaphor and/or the provided ointment as directed.
• Avoid intense heat from water, saunas, and exercise for 72 hours.
• Avoid makeup, sunscreen, and unapproved products for the first 24 hours.
• Stay out of direct sunlight, using sunscreen (once cleared) when going outside.
• Stick to gentle cleansers and moisturizers when you return to using skincare products.
• Sleep with the area elevated for the first few days to reduce swelling.

Pinkness fades gradually over the next 1 to 2 weeks, depending on the depth of your treatment. Some flaking is to be expected, but do not pick at or exfoliate your skin. Allow damaged cells to shed naturally to avoid causing new damage. After 2 to 3 weeks, you’ll notice your initial results, but they continue to build for the next 3 to 6 months as collagen remodels.
